What are you packing in the "FANNY"

Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Ok... let me first start by saying.. "are you kidding me"???? I cannot believe I'm even about to write these words. (it's just like saying them out loud and it almost seems sacrilegious)....BUT, and there's a BIG BUT.... Fanny Packs are BACK! Oh yeah! Did you just throw up a little in your mouth? I know I did! Words cannot even describe the hatred I have for Fanny Packs.. but wait, they aren't alone... the "SCRUNCHIE" is in sight as well. Now, I have to tell you, a scrunchie seems far too trivial comparatively!

Spring had it's share of scrunchies on the runway, but one look stood out at the MJ (Marc Jacobs) show. MJ actually has a Fanny Pack in his Spring/Summer 2010 handbag collection! Ok, it's out there. It's done. You've had to deal with it. Now, tell me?? Are you going to sport it? I am the first in line for anything MJ puts out that I can afford to pick up.. but, a Fanny Pack. This girl will not be sporting one. (not unless I drop a ton of weight around my waist first. And the thought of losing weight to use a "Fanny Pack" as my inspiration actually makes me ill) But, here it is..enjoy!

Marc Jacobs S/S 2010 runway collection. Fanny Pack and Scrunchie!

And MJ wasn't alone.. here's some other fab designers Fanny Packs:

Right: Fendi Fanny Pack for $335 and Left: Prada Fanny Pack for $342 Bottom: Louis Vuitton (no shock here since Marc Jacobs is the Creative Director of Louis Vuitton)

"SWIM" in Spring!

Sunday, March 21, 2010

I know some of you are dreading these words.. but Spring is here! And we need to start talking Swimsuits and Cruisewear. As we already have discussed, denim is huge for Spring, so it's an obvious guess that it would find its place in our swimwear. One of my favorite lines of denim is True Religion and they have taken that branding into their Spring/Cruise 2010 line of denim swimwear.

You'll notice their "branding" logo on the bikini tops. I truly love the plaid pieces with the denim for a bit of a western feel. The little "Jeans Bikini Bottoms" that are micro shorts are about $100 alone. So, let's see if we can find a "FLIP" for this look.

Well.. "GUESS" what?? we found an almost identical match to the denim bikini bottoms..

Our Daily Flip:

Seriously?? These are almost identical! We found this at Macy's and the best part is it's only $49 for the bottoms and $47 for the top! Buy the shorts and add your top to them or get the set and change out the "tie" for a plaid one to keep with the trend. Check out our "HOT DEALS" section for any Macy's Coupon codes and don't forget.. you're earning CASH BACK on this purchase as Macy's is part of our MA CASH BACK program!

REMEMBER... to get these great deals.. shop our mall http://www.dailyfashionflip.com/ and click on our "SHOP PARTNERS" link to find all the Brand Name stores. You'll find the "HOT DEALS" link at the top of the page as well. This is where we have special deals given to us from our stores. Email us with any questions!

Birds of a "FEATHER" ...

Wednesday, March 17, 2010
Birds of a feather are sure flocked together down the Spring/Summer 2010 runways. With such designers as Jason Wu, DVF, Rodarte... the list goes on!
And why not? It's a beautiful, fun, sexy trend that works well in the warmer months. Let's take a look at some of the runway pics.

Jason Wu does it so well with these looks starting at $595.

Another great one..

We found this Diane Von Furstenberg "Postage Stamp" mini skirt at Saks for $265. Laser cut feathers and pure silk. Smashing!

Our Daily Flip:

We found this amazing mini dress by Guess at Macy's for only $29!!!!! Are you kidding me right now? You get the look of the season with just a hint of the feathers and the price is insane. Macy is part of our CASH BACK program! We checked for coupon codes and didn't find any at this time..keep checking. A tribute to the "QUEEN"

Friday, March 12, 2010
For the true fashionistas in this world, you cannot think of an upcoming fashion season without the thoughts of what Alexander McQueen will have on the runway. What sort of amazement and wonder will you see teetering down on the highest of high heels?? We've lost a great legend and we can only hope that a new and upcoming designer will take on those "shoes" of his and bring his vision forward for years to come.

Of course, no matter how hard one tries, you can never really imitate an McQueen look. But, we would like to attempt the best we can. Please enjoy.

Alexander McQueen S/S 2010 Runway Digital Print Dress. McQueen 10" sci-fi, fish inspired heels. (like we could ever really replicate these) (You've seen these on just about every Lady Gaga look. She loved him. I feel she was a muse of sorts to him)

Our Daily Flip:

We found this really pretty digital print dress at ArdenB. for only $69. It's a very wearable version of the great Alexander McQueens Spring 2010 runway collection which held almost every garment in digital print. ArdenB is part of our CASH BACK program giving you additional % off. The are offering $5 shipping on all orders of $15 or more. You can wear this with flats or sandals for a causal look or pump it up with out heels below and add some bling on your wrists and ears.

Here's our attempted flip on the McQueen heels. Honestly, not a bad one really. It has the feel we are looking for and it's more of a wearable shoe. This will bring the nightlife out of our dress. First, I have to say, this is one of my favorite fresh new designers. It's Christian Siriano from 2008 winner of Project Runway. He has his own line out, but he's made a few, I think 3, pairs of heels exclusively for Payless online. That's right.. I said Payless! And they are bit steep for a FLIP, but they are worth every penny. $79. The heels are in very limited quantity, so hurry up on this. (You're going to see me sporting around town with these for sure). You can use Coupon Code : 30576 at checkout for 15% off the price. Of course, Payless is one of our Partner stores, which earns you an additional percentage off!

Don't "CLOG" up your mind!

Thursday, March 11, 2010
Open your mind to the possibilities of a shoe you might have dismissed since early childhood. We're talking about the CLOG. There's always a resurgence of the clog each decade with a fresh new look. This Spring, designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Stewart Weitzman & others have put the Clog back into sight. When I think Spring, I don't necessarily think Clog, but if Karl Lagerfeld does.....I'm in! Let's take a look.

On left, Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. On right is Stewart Weitzman; $375. Both Runway Spring 2010.

Our Daily Flip(s):

For about half the price of the Stewart Weitzman's spring clog, we found these smoking hot Steven by Steve Madden "Durann" Clogs at our fabulous partner store Bloomindales. This is our higher priced version of the flip...$149. but worth every penny! Bloomindales' is part of our CASH BACK program which will earn you additional money off!

Pair with:

Ok..love love love this dress. It gives the illusion of separates, but is a one piece. Pair it with the Steven clogs from above, without the tights. Don't forget to buy it on a Tuesday and you can add that coupon code: TUESDAYS for 10% off your order. Of course, you'll also receive additional CASH BACK from our program!

I'm Baaaack! And I'm dishing some dirt!

Tuesday, March 09, 2010
I'm back after a much needed breather from my daily life! Lot's of catching up to do, but today I wanted to "FLIP" our topic a bit. Let's dish on Oscar Fashion Faux Pas! Who's down for it? I know I am! I love to sit and drool over the latest designer looks and cringe at those fashion faux pas. Let's get right to it!

Here are my "bottom three" pics for the Oscar night, 2010!

Sandy Bullock. I have to tell you. I just hate writing anything negative on her, especially after her really moving speech to mothers everywhere! But, here goes.. first, where does her skin end and the dress begin? It's such a faux pas to put a flesh tone dress on the red carpet. But, as for the rest of it...it's so blah! Nothing really to it more than a glorified ice skating outfit, lengthened. I know everyone is saying it, but it's really true.

Vera Farmiga is an example of how "NOT" to wear the latest trends. Yes, it's true, color and ruffles are hot hot hot, but this dress on her is NOT NOT NOT! Don't get me wrong, we love Marchesa, it's just not the right look.  Her petite frame is being swallowed up by the sea of ruffles. Her hair is a bit too sloppy as well. Thumbs down on this whole look.

Ok, she's killing me! Who doesn't want to wear Chanel, but come on!! Diane Kruger, of "Inglorious Bastards" looks consumed in this ball of confusion. It really doesn't accentuate the right parts, if you know what I mean! She looks aged and tired. Way beyond her years in this gown.
